Pour gravy
on green beans
to hide fact
that someone
brought in
green beans
on the one
day when
everything
is made brown
and grey and
only the daring
could pour
enough gravy
to gag a glut
to the gills
and stop the
aunts telling
their favorite
story about
the student
who plays
in a litterbox
in the classroom,
a story that
never gets
old enough
to not repeat
over and over
because to do
otherwise
would make
that family
short out.
