HOLIDAY NOODLES ~ Annastatia Brooks

Around Christmas time, at the peak of the season,
Our family tradition, for some strange reason,

Is not to serve Yule log or strudel;
My family serves bowls of holiday noodles.

We chop up red peppers, green onions too,
Put it in a broth, and let it all stew.

Finally, of course, the ramen so gold
Is put in the pot. Then in from the cold

We huddle around the bubbling bowls.
The pain of the year, and all of its tolls

Seem to melt away, thawed by the meal.
Eating holiday noodles, we finally heal.
