If you are there when someone says The Lie,
remember: Silence is Complicity.
You can’t say Nothing. You don’t want to die,
of course, but find a safe and winning way.
This happened just the other day to me.
I did not plan what I was going to say,
just spoke the truth—and lived. And said this too:
Denial is Conspiracy. So why
deny what everybody knows is true,
including loved ones who know but deny
because of racism, misogyny,
or love of the lynch mob? It’s up to you.
Considering the State we’re in today,
I know it won’t be easy to comply.
But Nothing is the worst thing we can do.
The ultimate tragedy
is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people
but the silence over that by the good people.
