STARFIRE – Morgan Golladay

The star that fell to earth last night
was captured in this yellow puff,
this ground-hugging dandelion
barely lifting its head to the sun.
The free exchange, stardust
to starlife,
seeds itself in my mind,
a reminder of connection,
of creation, of the impossibility
of everything I believe.

That a star burst from the night sky
could become a pincushion of brightness
beneath my feet
must require the focus of magic,
both earth and sky,
to transform from starburst to starfire.
