Ole King Cobra was feeling quite good,
as he proudly displayed his royal hood.
But young Deepak would pay no attention!
So…His Highness fulfilled his intention
to engage Deep (as most benignly he could.)
Thus, King leaped and proceeded to land
on the 8-year-old youth’s grubby hand.
“Whilst here though, I’ll show off my ‘dry’ bite.”*
(Which, of course, still caused Deep pain and fright!)
Deep convulsed his hurt hand with conviction
it would lead to the cobra’s eviction,
but the serpent would not call it quits,
and held fast —till the angry lad bit!
Deep bit hard; Deep bit twice; Deep bit deep:
The stunned snake finally fell in a heap!
Had young Deep become touched in the head?
Maybe yes, maybe no, —but poor King— he lay dead!
