I watched them sail
kiddie ride boats in a row
My two peach fuzz headed boys
in vessels of primary colors
big smiles
tank tops in August humidity
arms outdoing one another
in muscle competitions
the oldest wearing eyeglasses
and chewing his thumb
the younger smiling
full of newest teeth
steering wheels guided
around the same circle
waving at me each turn
Mom as the anchor
Mom as the sun back then
my children in close orbit
grinning around me
